Well, this is a confession of a beauty junkie, I brought home some products of The Body Shop on the Black Friday. Walked in the store and couldn’t hold back from drooling over those fantastic makeup and skincare goodies. Let’s check out what I got in my bag! Actually not much, there were Skin Defence Multi-Protection Essence, Tea Tree Oil, Vitamin E Cream Cleanser and lastly, Matte Lip Liquid. So ecstatic to try all these products and definitely, will do my best to give candid reviews one by one, they might be hit or miss.

To begin with, I’m gonna walk us through my review of The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid in Cyprus Begonia 018 that I bet I’m able to finalize my entire thoughts as soon as possible. In contrast, the skincare and sun care products seem to take more time. Gotta say the lipstick is one of my own flattering babies that I got in the fortunate 2017.

1. Mostly Formulated with Chemical Ingredients as Multitaskers to Give Velvety Feelings to the Touch

About The Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid Cyprus Begonia
Introduced in Brighton, England in 1976, the brand has been well-known for countless natural, ecologically minded beauty products. It’s operating globally with 100% vegan, cruelty-free commitment and meant to serve people’s well-being in the absence of harmful chemicals and toxins.

The company provides hot, on-trend 17 shades compatible with different skin tones. Exceptionally enriched to lay down a silky, creamy matte finish, which is long wearing and highly pigmented. They tend to be lightweight and result in soft, smooth looking lips.

Formulated with Isohexadecane, Pentaerythrityl Tetraisostearate, Disteardimonium Hectorite, Dimethicone and Dimethicone Crosspolymer as conditioning, emulsifying and thickening agents. Those all are inclined to deliver velvety texture and trap emollient onto lips as well as avoid the chapped, flaky appearance. Moreover, the product includes the Beeswax for viscosity increasing effect and moisture retention.

Be cautious in case you’re very sensitive toward bee products, girls! Also, there are much other conditioning or stabilizing elements, synthetic preservatives and fragrance, such as Methyl Methacrylate Crosspolymer, Glyceryl Behenate, Phenoxyethanol and Benzyl Benzoate.

The chemical elements possibly cause irritation or negative physical reactions. According to the product’s Material Safety Data Sheet (MSDS), Phenoxyethanol is dangerous when swallowed, inhaled and absorbed into skin. However, this is referred to be at very high concentration. Then, in terms of the cosmetic industry, the artificial, synthetic preservatives or fragrances are always kept at substantially low doses, less than 2% for safety.

In contrast, for those who are certainly sensitive to these kinds of things, be considerate before applying, ladies. Additionally, the colorants are mineral pigment (Titanium Dioxide) and Coal Tar dyes (Red 6/CI 15850 and Yellow 5 Lake/CI 19140) under the approval of Food and Drug Administration (FDA). The lipstick is absolutely vegetarian without testing on animals, gluten and carmine.

2. Vibrant Color Payoff with Smooth, Creamy Consistency for Plump Looking Lips

It’s kinda another Magenta (berry) shade that I got right after the Too Faced Melted Liquified Lipstick in Bend & Snap. Otherwise, Cyprus Begonia 018 is much milder and more reddish with the hint of cool tones. This is exactly what I covet. Surprisingly, the shade looks brighter onto my bare skin and lips than I expect through the photo on the Body Shop website. To me, it’s genuinely feminine and ethereal to make my pouts stunningly pop out and my face becomes livelier. I couldn’t stop myself trying it over and over again. Very wearable and elegant for most of skin tones, from fair to medium.

When taking coats, the lipstick is like gliding soundly onto my lips and leaves a beautifully smooth, soft texture with very thin, creamy consistency. You may take some seconds or even, minutes to wait until it utterly dries down. The product tends to deliver a matte finish with sheer to medium rather than opaque, full coverage. Then, this is suitable for gentle, minimal makeup concepts though.

Amazingly, the lipstick doesn’t accentuate fine lines and cracks of my lips, whereas some others I used to try before are quick dry but awfully result in the chapped appearance. Anyway, I’m really confident and digging into using the Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid for my daily, but also occasional makeup, like Valentines.

However, you may find a bit dry after hours, so necessarily exfoliate and moisturize your lips prior to applying the lipstick to retain hydration. Furthermore, It’s effortlessly blendable and buildable. Doing extra coats for a bolder look and pressing lips together don’t leave rough, patchy residues or uncomfortably thick, caked-on sensations.

I can guarantee that it’s genuinely lightweight. Also, easy to apply and obedient to lie down evenly and neatly without smudging or messing around. I’d recommend the product to our beloved beginners. This isn’t stubborn or hard to manage at all.

Whist hanging out with my friends, I prefer slightly applying in the middles of upper and lower lips, then, use fingertips to slowly blend out. That swiftly creates a sweet, delicate look with gradient effect like many Korean pop stars. Plus, I can do full-lips application that would be more festive for parties, moreover, put lipgloss on top for a plump, moist look. Oh, and don’t forget going a bit foundation on lips as a base in advance to bring out the lipstick’s underlying color. There may be some clumps in the inner centres of lips, simply use a piece of tissue paper to blot them away. We’ll try at best to glam our pouts up, won’t we?

Heading outdoor doesn’t cause it to be dull and poorly saturated. The lipstick still stays vibrant and adorable with a nice color payoff. It’s fairly long lasting and transfer-proof, kissing and drinking won’t give any stains or marks on stuff. However, eating may be a little challenging, especially with hot soups, the lipstick is more likely to fade away and need touch-up afterward. Last but not least, it does have a calming, lovable scent of floral, but not overwhelming.

3. A Simple, Lightweight Packaging Design

The product comes into a small, handy tube having very simple design black texts of the brand name and the shade. It looks good to high schoolers though, not too fancy. The tube is transparent that you can see the color through it. But, it’s hard to see how much the lipstick is left inside. I like the tube narrow head, same as the Tarte Tarteist Creamy Matte Lip Paint. It helps not let the fluid smear outside. There is a long black lid with a concealer applicator beneath, which is slanted for high definition under your control. Additionally, the size of 8 ml doesn’t take many spaces in my travel bag. I like it after all!

4. My Rating 8/10: Gorgeous, so Satisfied

Rating 8/10

I think the lipstick is undeniably gorgeous from the color to texture and consistency. Pretty long wearing and transfer-resistant. The whole points are fine with me. I’m gonna give it 8 out of 10.

Hope the review is useful and informative enough about the Body Shop Matte Lip Liquid. If you have any questions or ideas, please let me know you thought. I’d love to hear you out. So grateful for that. Thank you so much for joining me!
